Thoughts on the upcoming election…

One thing you will not see me do here is endorse a party or candidate. That is not what I envision this blog becoming. However, I will from time to time share my thoughts on some issues.

The current economic crisis has had me thinking about many things. What I want to talk about, however, is deciding who to vote for. Whether it is Obama, McCain, or some third party candidate you should spend your time researching their positions. I see this as our responsibility as citizens. Become informed.

Don’t vote for one party because you think they are liberal or conservative. Actually look at the issues and see where they differ. Just spend a couple of hours a week reading. You will learn a lot.

Don’t vote for the lesser of two evils. I have a friend who is disgusted with the two main parties. He actually likes one of the third parties, but will not vote for them because they do not stand a chance. If your beliefs line up with the Green or Libertarian parties, vote for them. The only way they will get traction is if people start supporting them with votes.

Well, that sums up the Rebel’s thoughts on the voting process. learn about all candidates and vote for the one you believe to be the best. Stay involved in the process. Many say it is broken. It won’t get fixed if people don’t act. Start acting!
