Don’t Give Up!– also posted in Frugality, Home Finance, Personal Finance

This may surprise you since I live in the South, but I am a college football fan. Although, what may actually be a surprise for some of you is that I am a Kentucky fan, even in football. The game this weekend between my beloved Wildcats and Arkansas made me think about personal finance.

Something to Learn from the Financial Meltdown– also posted in Credit, Home Finance, Personal Finance

The New York Times has a great article providing some background on why we are in the mess we are in. The article states:
But by the time Mr. Mudd became Fannie’s chief executive in 2004, his company was under siege. Competitors were snatching lucrative parts of its business. Congress was demanding that Mr. Mudd help [...]

Admit You are Wrong– also posted in Basics, Personal Finance

I was watching the VP debate last night and one thing stood out as it pertains to the topic of personal finance. Governor Palin was asked who was responsible for the sub-prime problem, the people, Wall Street, or both. Her answer bothered me. She said that the people were not to blame but the predatory [...]

What does it mean to be frugal?– also posted in Basics, Frugality

This may seem like a silly question. But stop and think about it. Websters defines frugal this way:

Economical in use or expenditure; prudently saving or sparing; not wasteful: a frugal manager.
Entailing little expense; requiring few resources; meager; scanty; a frugal meal.

For me, to sum it up it means to start using less and saving more. [...]

Start Small– also posted in Basics

OK, you’ve decided to join the rebellion. You are no longer going to live your life under the oppressive weight of debt monster. So where do you start? This can be a debilitating issue as it may seem overwhelming. So what did I do.
First, I admitted to myself that I didn’t know what I was [...]

Welcome to the Rebellion!

For too long I have been burdened by bad decision, lack of information, and all around just lunacy when it came to my finances. I have spent the past year and a half getting a handle on that and learning everything that I can. I will no longer be a slave to debt. I will [...]
